Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

This website collects as little as possible. No tracking cookies, no ads, no profiles. Here is exactly what does happen with your data.

Who is responsible

I, Kelvin Damen, am responsible for what happens to your personal data on vinkode.nl. Questions about this policy or your data? Email me at info@vinkode.nl.

What I collect

  • Visitor statistics. Which pages are viewed, the referring website, and your country, browser and device type. This is measured without cookies and can't be traced back to you.
  • Performance measurements. How fast pages load on your device, without cookies or personal identifiers.
  • Server logs. Like any website, the hosting provider briefly logs technical request data, including your IP address, to deliver and secure the site.
  • Your messages. If you fill in the contact form, I receive your first and last name, your email address and your message as an email. If you email me directly, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.
  • Abuse checks. When you send the form, Vercel checks, based on technical characteristics of your browser, that it was filled in by a person, and counts how many messages are sent from your IP address. This is how I keep out spam.

Cookies

This site uses only two functional cookies, which remember your own choices. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, so you don't need to give consent and you won't see a cookie banner.

  • theme remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Kept for one year.
  • NEXT_LOCALE remembers your language when it differs from your browser's. Deleted when you close your browser.

Why, and on what basis

I use the statistics and logs to keep the site running, secure and fast, and to see which pages are useful. This is based on my legitimate interest in a working, secure website. I use your messages only to reply to you, based on that same legitimate interest, or on taking steps towards working together if that's what you're asking about. The abuse checks serve only to keep spam out of the form, also based on my legitimate interest.

I don't sell your data, don't use it for advertising and don't build profiles.

Who else processes it

  • Vercel hosts this website and provides the visitor statistics and performance measurements, and checks submitted forms for abuse. Vercel is based in the United States; transfers there are covered by safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
  • OVHcloud hosts the domain and my mailbox, where messages from the contact form arrive too. OVHcloud is a French company, so your messages stay in the EU.

How long it's kept

Visitor statistics are stored only in aggregate. The anonymous identifier used to count visits is discarded after 24 hours. Server logs are kept briefly by Vercel. The count of sent messages always runs over ten minutes. I keep messages and emails only as long as needed to handle your question, or longer if it leads to working together.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask me to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict its processing or to transfer it to you, and you can object to processing. Email info@vinkode.nl and I'll respond within a month.

You can also file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (opens in a new tab).

Links to other websites

This site links to other websites, such as LinkedIn, my projects and the pages where certifications can be verified. Those sites have their own privacy policies; this policy doesn't cover them.

Changes

If the way this site handles data changes, I'll update this page. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
